Overview

K-12 SOL Conferences in English Language Arts utilize a train-the-trainer model to provide professional development that focuses on continued implementation of engaging instruction that aligns to the 2017 Standards of Learning and Curriculum Framework. Elementary sessions focus on evidenced based practices for early reading instruction, scaffolding grade level texts, approaches to interdisciplinary literacy, and developing and implementing local performance assessments. Secondary sessions highlight pedagogical practices for middle school reading and writing, providing student agency through inquiry based instruction, the development of authentic learning experiences, and integrating the 2017 English Standards of Learning for a more comprehensive approach to instruction.
