The Safe & Drug Free Schools and Communities Act (SDFSCA) program is the Federal Government’s primary vehicle for reducing violence, alcohol and other drugs use through supporting education, prevention and intervention activities in our Nation’s schools.

SDFSCA program resources are used to support student academic achievement through programming that:

  • prevents violence, illegal use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs in and around schools
  • involves parents and communities
  • coordinates programming with related federal, state, school, and community efforts

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) administers SDFSCA resources, brokers information and provides technical assistance to school divisions. This website is intended to provide information to assist school divisions in this effort.
