2020 Health Education Standards of Learning Curriculum Framework

On March 17, 2022 the Virginia Board of Education approved and adopted the 2020 Health Education Standards of Learning Curriculum Framework.  The 2021 Virginia General Assembly amended the Code of Virginia through Senate Bill 1190 directing the Board to include advanced directive education in its curriculum framework for the Health Education Standards of Learning for high school students. The 2020 Health Education Standards of Learning include standard 10.3e: Determine strategies for improving access to health care and medical services for different stages of life. The 2020 Health Education Standards of Learning Curriculum Framework, a companion document for the 2020 Health Education Standards of Learning, enhances standard 10.3e to include essential understandings, essential knowledge and essential skills for advanced directive education. The 2020 Health Education Standards of Learning describe the commonwealth's expectations for student learning and achievement in grades K-10 health education.

Health Education Standards of Learning Resources

  The Physical Education Standards of Learning identify concepts, processes, and skills for physical education in kindergarten through grade 10 for Virginia's public schools. This framework provides school divisions and teachers with a guide for creating aligned curricula and learning experiences in physical education.
