- Resources for Teaching the Holocaust and Other World Genocides - As an update to HB2409 and previous materials provided in 2009, the history and social science program at the Virginia Department of Education worked with a team of teachers, organizations, and Virginia museums to provide such support for Virginia educators to meet the required instruction of the Holocaust and other world genocides.

Dr. Carter G. Woodson Collaborative
Dr. Carter G. Woodson Collaborative was formed as a joint venture between the Virginia Social Studies Leaders Consortium (VSSLC), the Virginia Association of Museums (VAM), the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), and #GoOpenVA. Support Dr. Carter G. Woodson’s vision for African American history by curating existing resources and creating original learning experiences that address the technical edits to the Virginia Standards of Learning developed by the Commission on African American History Education.
- Collection of Learning Experiences - Resources created through the Dr. Carter G. Woodson Collaborative project for K-2, Virginia Studies, US History to 1865, US History 1865 to Present, and Virginia and US History.
- Woodson Collaborative Curated Links - These links were curated by the members of the Dr. Carter G. Woodson Collaborative, in order to support the approved edits to the SOL curriculum framework made by the Governor’s Commission on African American History Education.
Civil Rights Education
- Brown v. Board of Education Scholarship Committee – Created by the Virginia General Assembly to administer the Brown v. Board of Education Scholarship Program, this legislative committee is responsible for annually selecting eligible Virginia residents for funding to attend approved in-state educational programs.
- Additional resources – A variety of audio, video, print resources and lesson plans selected by the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Division of Legislative Services that help explain the Civil Rights movement.
- Virginia Specific Resources – Materials highlight the role that Virginia and Virginians had leading up to the landmark Supreme Court Case and the impact of Massive Resistance in communities across the state.
- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Commission – This Virginia General Assembly agency was created in 1992 to honor the memory and legacy of the Civil Rights leader and to continue his work through educational, historical and cultural programs, public policy and public discourse.
