RecognizeB5 provides a financial incentive to eligible early childhood educators. RecognizeB5 aims to reduce teacher turnover in child care and family day homes, where wages are significantly lower than comparable settings. Nearly 17,000 early childhood educators will participate in RecognizeB5 in the 2023-2024 program year.

RecognizeB5 Eligibility

RecognizeB5 is open to eligible educators (i.e., lead and assistant teachers) working in publicly-funded child care centers and family day homes that are participating in VQB5.

For the 2023-2024 year, educators may be eligible to receive RecognizeB5 if:

  • They complete their educator profile in LinkB5 by October 1.
  • They work in a child care center or family day home that accepts public funds (such as the child care subsidy program),
  • They continually work at least 30 hours or more per week directly with birth-to-five children in a classroom setting, and
  • The child care center or family day home completes VQB5 required participation activities.

For additional details about RecognizeB5, refer to Section 7.6 in the VQB5 Guidelines.
