Matrix of Best Practices and Common Recommendations now available from DPB

As directed by the 2015 General Assembly, the Department of Planning and Budget has developed a matrix of best practices and common recommendations from past school efficiency reviews that school divisions may replicate for self-directed improvements toward better financial management and use of school division resources. See Superintendent's Memo 236-15.

Overview

The school division efficiency review program, begun in 2004, is designed to identify ways that divisions can realize cost savings in non-instructional areas that can be redirected to classroom activities. Participation by school divisions is voluntary and involves contracting with outside education experts to perform the efficiency reviews. The findings include an evaluation of the efficiency of various offices and operations within a school division, recommendations and projected costs and/or savings associated with the recommendations. The Virginia Department of Planning and Budget (Virginia School Efficiency Review Program) is responsible for coordinating efficiency reviews.
