School and Community Nutrition Program Statistics & Reports

The VDOE Office of School and Community Nutrition Programs (VDOE-SCNP) is committed to supporting the Commonwealth and ensuring that every child in Virginia has healthy food options and opportunities for nutrition education. Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) Reports

As defined by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service, Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) is a non-pricing meal service option for schools and school districts in low-income areas. CEP allows the nation’s highest poverty schools and districts to serve breakfast and lunch at no cost to all enrolled students. Schools that adopt CEP are reimbursed using a formula based on the percentage of students categorically eligible for free meals based on their participation in other specific means-tested programs.

VDOE National School Lunch Program Free and Reduced Price Eligibility Reports

The VDOE-SCNP collects and reports free and reduced price eligibility data annually from local educational agencies (LEAs). These reports include the number and percentage of enrolled students eligible for free or reduced-price meals in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) at both the school division and individual school level. The VDOE submitted to the USDA a statewide waiver to renew the administrative review process five-year cycle. Please submit inquiries to SNPPolicy@doe.virginia.gov.  

Summer Food Service Program & Seamless Summer Option

Public Posting of Administrative Reviews

Section 207 of the Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act 2010, amended section 22 of the National School Lunch Act (42 U.S.C. 1769c) requires the Virginia Department of Education, Office of School and Community Nutrition Programs (VDOE-SCNP), to report the results of the administrative review to the public in an accessible, easily understood manner in accordance with guidelines promulgated by the Secretary.
