December 1 Child Count

To meet federal IDEA provisions, school divisions are required to make an unduplicated count of students with disabilities receiving special education on December 1st of each year.

Parentally-Placed Private School and Home Schooled Students Survey

School divisions must gather and maintain data on children with disabilities enrolled by their parents in private schools or are homeschooled and submit the data to the Virginia Department of Education.

Indicators

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requires each state to report to the public on state-level data and individual school division-level data and to report on whether the state and the divisions met state targets described in the state’s special education State Performance Plan/Annual Performance Report.
