2018 Determination Letters on Local Implementation of IDEA
Overview
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) Division of Special Education and Student Services released local determinations on implementation of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Part B for fiscal year 2016. The VDOE made the determinations using both compliance and results data, giving each equal weight in making the determination. The IDEA details four categories for the determinations. A division’s determination may be:
- Meets the requirements and purposes of IDEA;
- Needs assistance in implementing the requirements of IDEA;
- Needs intervention in implementing the requirements of IDEA; or
- Needs substantial intervention in implementing the requirements of IDEA.
