ESEA Title IX, Part A: McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, Subtitle VII-B, Education of Homeless Children and Youths Program

The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, Title IX, Part A of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), authorizes the State Board of Education to make grants to local education agencies for the purposes of facilitating the enrollment, attendance, and success of children and youth experiencing homelessness. The Virginia Department of Education has designated The College of William & Mary School of Education as the institution responsible for effective coordination of the Virginia Homeless Education Program. The program is called Project HOPE-Virginia. Information about the state program and local resources can be found on the HOPE Web site.
